I currently am experiencing my natal Chiron squared by Pluto and I have to say that I absolutely love this transit!
I know that may sound a bit warped if you are not a fan of Pluto and/or if you have previously read other interpretations of this transit and zoomed in on the rage aspect that has been mentioned in some interpretations.
Yet while I do readily admit that I am having occasional moments of rage arising, I am also finding a liberation beginning to occur that I have been unsuccessful in achieving in certain relationship situations, even though I have previously applied every ounce of my knowledge and will-power to the task of resolution.
I am finding that Chiron-Pluto is akin to a post-battle trauma surgeon.
This is the Doctor that steps in when you find that while you have cleaned and dressed your wounds the best you were able to at the time of the ‘battle’, and with the tools you then had available to use, there were wounds from much earlier battles that scarred over before coming to healing due to their being acquired before you later attained a certain level of wisdom and ability to effectively prevent your being wounded on levels so deep as to require this Doctors assistance.
These scarred over wounds are quite elusive, and often are forced back into the realms of the subconscious when they are triggered, for we have become incredibly frustrated after sincere repeated attempts at achieving a healing resolution that never comes to fruition.
Then comes a point that we meet up with Doctor Chiron Pluto and I liken the scenario to this:
The Doctor (pluto-chiron) enters the operating room and you are already prepped and on the table.
Before you have the opportunity to raise objection he has already applied laser precision to open up the wound underneath the bright lights of the overhead operating room halogens.
He then proceeds to strategically position a camera that feeds to a big-screen where you can observe him working and while he preforms his procedures he educates you as to the nature of your wound and explains why it is necessary for him to preform certain procedures to “heal” this wound.
As he is working the Doctor suddenly exclaims, “Well, would you look at that, that was the problem all along!”.
You gasp in surprise and stammer out, “Really?? Are you serious? But I thought this, and I thought that, and I, and I, and I…”
The Doctor quickly interrupts, effectively thwarting any further possibility of denial on your part in your effort to continue to cling to previous misconceptions and/or false hopes of another outcome, with: “Well kiddo’, it would appear that you were mistaken and that is exactly why we are here today”.
Now you comprehend beyond a reasonable doubt that this highly efficient Doctor is determined to make sure that you now fully acknowledge and understand the reality of the situations that attributed to your carrying this festering, albeit layered over by old scar tissue, wound.
To ensure that you really are seeing the truth of your wound with absolute clarity the Doc then proceeds to zoom in with the camera in a close-up view of the events/situations that comprise the wound(s) he has categorized as being way past the point of needing to heal.
In fact, he is now considering something a little more extreme and similar to amputation. {{apologies for the graphics..yet it is apt in my case at least}} 🙂
A slew of emotions begin to bubble up within you as you are lying there viewing this previously illusive wound that is now cleaned and impossible to deny the reality of any longer and you begin to process what you are viewing in a whole new light and with a different awareness than ever before.
Dr. Chiron Pluto is kindly enough, and as long as he sees you are studying and seeking to comprehend that which he is reveling to you, he is happy to delay the removal phase long enough for you to have a good rant, bitch, cry and then some {{smiles}} before he proceeds.
After your emotional eclipse subsides he then proceeds to pick up his scalpel and get down to the business of removing that which needs to go so that you can now truly find the well-being that has eluded you despite your applying your best efforts to the healing of this wound for so long.
Now this is no fast procedure, and the Doc knows that to keep you still and at ease during his surgery it is best to keep you focused on a pleasant outcome, so he places an enticing big bowl of liberation ambrosia where you can clearly get a glimpse of it and continually reminds you that when the procedure is complete it is yours for the taking.
That Doc is one smart cookie for if he was just offering up the typical hospital green jello his patients would likely not be so cooperative, you know what I mean? {snickers}
Yet you do get to glimpse the ambrosia the whole way through, provided you keep your eyes focused upon it, and it sure helps to ease the pain of any necessary removals.
***********************
As of now I am still holding company with the Doctor and am not yet off the operating table but I am thrilled nonetheless to finally be receiving the extra help needed in situations that have left me miffed and are still within my hemisphere despite my previous best efforts at remedy.
This is where we can clearly appreciate the pure essence and amazing qualities and functions of Pluto.
When you are able to surrender to the process of Pluto by understanding that he achieves that which has previously been unachievable, and you allow him to do that which he is skilled at doing, Pluto is then able to purify that which has become toxic and prevents a healthy and purposeful existence hence bringing forth into liberation that which was previously bound and contributing to dysfunction in some manner in our life.

Bravo and thanks Kachina! This has really helped. Hope you’re now in recovery and ready for grapes and ambrosia. I was wondering myself how a square of Chiron to my late Scorp asc in my solar return chart today could be most beneficially used. In a way I think it is a similar scenario but maybe more a draining of toxins than an amputation. Certainly feels that way- being me I expect it will be noisy!! Love, Morvah

Thank you Morvah. {{big hug}}
I’m not exactly in recovery yet, still in surgery I believe, for I have quite a few months to go with this (Chiron @ 5′ Aries)..so Pluto will be dancing over that Cap degree for a while. Also my Moon/Cancer ASC and Libra Ur-Jup-Merc are wrapped into this so this is a really intense one for me all around..but I NEED this, and I know it. 🙂
LOL..Chiron to Scorp Asc will definitely have a little kick to it yet within the SR it should be just a brief flavoring and early into the return. Might be a good time to take on a part time role as a boot camp counselor..you think?

This is twice you`ve written something that spoke directly to my soul.
I, too, am having a transiting Pluto square Chiron doctor visit that has finally (finally!) performed a liberating surgery…and hopefully some long-awaited results and progress.
It`s exactly how you described…exactly. What a relief…since my Chiron, Saturn, and north node are all in Aries in the 3rd house…talk about a triple whammy.
Thanks…

I’m pleased you chimed in and shared you are also seeing the benefits of this transit! I noted a while ago in some astro forums that most chatting about this transit that were either currently experiencing it or were seeing it upcoming were having a lot of anxiety and/or dread.
Yet now there is at least 2 of us offering a spin on it, right?
I hope you’ll come back and share a bit concerning your progress and results!
Best wishes, Kachina

Hope all is well over at SkyWriter and a belated thank you for all of the energy you put into the IAD Blog Carnival, I was honored to be a participant! Kachina

This is an article easy to relate to … Chiron is one of my heroes … aware of his healing intent at first, my own experiences of late are such a mirror of the astro doc you describe here. The imagery of laser surgery is gentler than surgery I would image from my own memory … so ‘advanced’ and able to get through the scar-tissue.
This will help as I heal from my fall, broken bone and readjusting posture. I love the taste of Liberation Ambrosia and understand that a little goes a long way; and easy does it is better than fast and furious.
Sweet stuff, Kachina. Thank you.

Oh no Mokihana! I had no idea you had an injury of recent yet I am pleased to hear you are in-tune to what it is speaking to you and you are now healing.
It is interesting that you point out the distinct difference in the gentler quality of our healing energies now as opposed to other points. I believe this is in part due to our own progression on our healing paths for we tend to resist less after we have been doing this for a while. Yet I also believe the energies are now present for rapid healing to manifest from for anyone that sincerely desires it.
Amazing times! 🙂
Blessings for a speedy recovery Mokihana and thank you for stopping by as I always enjoy your serene sharing of your perceptions! ~xoxo

Hi corrina,
I hope that you are feeling much better now!
A little tip: Teeth are under the jurisdiction of Saturn and Capricorn, so with Saturn returning to Virgo briefly soon and Pluto remaining in Capricorn for many years yet, you may wish to consider more supplementation with Calcium/Magnesium if you are having issues related to the teeth. Personally, I think Cal/Mag is important right now for most with the intense energies we are having and the magnesium goes a long way in tempering painful muscle spasms that are not uncommon with such strong energy.
I too, am a Virgo sun, so I can relate to the things you have been personally sharing the past days.
Blessings! Kachina

Hi Kachina,
I, too, am experiencing Pluto Square Chiron from the 4th to the 7th. I wish the doc would hurry up. The first pass happened a couple of months ago and the second one is tomorrow in retrograde. I’m feeling trapped in a virtually sexless marriage with a wonderful guy who really loves me but doesn’t seem to “want” me. After 14 years of this, I’m going crazy! I have studied all the eastern philosophies and I believe that peace can only come from within and that all is well, but some days I want to get in the car and just go. It seems to feel more pressing right now. We are working on it and communicating well about it, but it’s not changing and I’m not sure he’s capable of change in that way. I’m not sure I’m right in even asking for that change. The Pluto-Chiron aspect just feels like it’s pushing this pot to a boiling point – an ultimate decision? The final pass of Pluto sq. Chiron is Dec. 31st.
I’m also experiencing Pluto Sq. Uranus (4th to 1st) too, so I know that ain’t helping. My natal Chiron is in Aries in the 7th opp. Uranus. I just wish I understood where this is leading….
Thank you for your insightful post! Glad I found this page. Thanks for listening…..
best,
Triple Virgo

Concerning relationships: I do not feel it is wrong for us to state our needs and desires to the other, yet once we have done so, then it really is solely up to them to either choose to meet those needs/desires or no.
It is also reasonable to expect a timely response, a yea or nay, to our requests..and if the other chooses to abstain from offering us what we consider a tangible response and/or action to our request, then we reserve the right to consider their indecision a ‘nay’ and to take action accordingly.
With Saturn’s return to Libra mid-summer our relationships are really going to be under the microscope, and yet maybe it is as simple as defining our own needs and then clarifying them to others, and awaiting the outcome with dispassion.
Where it gets sticky though is defining one’s own needs..accomplishing that is the golden key in my opinion. Then it is just a matter of letting go of existing relationships that are not a fit while welcoming new relationships that are.
It requires courage to stand within the center of our changing world of relationships as we have ‘comings and goings’ overlapping, and sometimes void space between, and we are forced to face our fears of separation on very deep and often primitive levels. Yet at this time it seems this is exactly what many of us, if not all of us, are being called to do.
I wish you all the best and offer blessings for a speedy resolution. You are always welcome to share here any time you should wish to or feel the need. ~xxxx Kachina

hi,
I’ve been scouring the internet to make sense of all the transits that’s happening to me right now and I must say that your article is one of the inspiring ones I’ve found so far.
I am hoping that Pluto square chiron would be a healing experience for me. Pluto is currently transiting my 11th house capricorn, and my natal chiron is in my 2nd house aries. I’ve already lost my job when the April 2010 saturn uranus opposition occured (got laid off exactly two days after the opposition). Pluto is squaring my chiron (exact) right now and it appears that I will have this square for quite some time since Pluto will retro over the same degree this year. when does the healing part starts (since I’ve already lost my job and thinking that the healing phase could come soon)?
one thing that I am concerned about is the rage aspect, and lately, it has been coming out….I’d burst out in anger at the slightest provocation….one of which made me laugh afterwards since I found myself screaming at a jaywalker! talk about having a hot temper! LOL!

Hi Ed,
Sorry to hear of your recent losses..any day now, if not already…Jupiter should conjunct your Chiron..so I would say the healing is incoming now, in some form. 🙂
I just had my second pass of Pluto square to Chiron..this one way less anger than the first pass…more determination actually to bully up within and cut loose anything that is preventing me from fully developing my career/social potentials(chiron/10th).
As for Pluto and the healing that comes with, there are so many layers that Pluto works through that the healing itself takes place in jags..and it’s not uncommon months or even years after the Pluto transit to still be coming to awareness on the deeply profound changes that occurred for you.
Best!

Hi, thanks for the article and responses, my Pluto transit Chiron will be coming exact 2014 – 2015, at a time of the later revolutionary Uranus square Pluto transits… (7 conjunctions to come with retrogrades, 1st Uranus square Pluto next year, 2 in 2013 and 2014, last in 2015)…
(see http://www.astrologycom.com/uranuspluto.html)
Transiting Uranus will be CONJUNCT my Chiron (9th house), and opposite my Mars (3rd house)… meaning Pluto (transiting 5th house) will be square Chiron AND my Mars.
Is there a good reason for me to be afraid here????
HELP 🙂
The only things to help are my Progressed Sun will be trine natal Chiron, and my Solar Arc Progressed Jupiter will be trine my natal Mars…?

Hi Lisa~
You still have a ways to go before your transit and much can happen between now and then in your personal evolution that will ready you for that particular T-square when it arrives. Working on how your Mars functions now, as well as your Chiron and also optimizing that Cancer 11th house will go a long way later. Mars/Pluto~you can start now reviewing the way you utilize your power..are you passive/aggressive, dominating, subordinate, abused or abusive..etc, etc. How well do you handle and relate to anger? Consider these things now and get a jump start. If you’re natal Mars and Pluto are functioning well there is no reason to believe the worst case scenario’s will unfold for you.
With my Chiron @ 5 Aries I too, have the tr. Uranus-Pluto influence and am also having my Uranus opposition. So far, so good! 🙂 I’m sure I’ll write more on Chiron being transited by the Uranus-Pluto square should there be anything of note that I experience with it.

Im glad to read your positive take on this transit. Im working on boundaries and have people and doctors not taking me seriously and ive pushed their buttons to no end, and we found after all i had a brain cyst in my thalamus and even chiari in my occiptial. Natal chiron is in 5th house aries (head) opp natal uranus. Ive had lots of head accidents and now its time for real brain surgery, so your interpretation is quite literal for me. I have 29 degree scorp asc, so im in for good times it seems. Now i wake up with visions of drills in me head instead of sugar plums…..im angry i have to have brain surgery but it will give me my thinking clarity back. Thanks for your article. Namaste.

Thank you for your very helpful article… i also have transiting Pluto (2nd) square Chiron (5th)…it is also:
square natal Pluto (11th),
opposition natal Venus (8th),
sextile Asc,
trine natal (Leo) Sun-Mars conjunction at MC,
as well as transiting Neptune and Chiron:
square natal Moon-Neptune conjunction (in Scorpio, 1st),
opposition the Sun-Mars conjunction at MC
and Uranus is opposing natal Pluto and square natal Venus…
it is all extremely intense! More than anything i’ve yet experienced and this life has been quite a ride.
And yet there is such love for these planets of transformation, however tough it gets i always know that some great change and discovery is taking place. Your explanation has been really helpful, supportive and reassuring of this innate trust in them – because at times i almost feel that its too much.
My experience at present is a mixture of the ambrosial nectar of liberation you speak of sharply paradoxed by almost uncontrollable and deeply intense emotion – terror, grief, frustration, very low self-esteem and self-confidence, paralysis and yet at the same time glimpses of just how capable i am and there is a strong motivation to break through confines and limitations – to get going. All very, very confusing. Sometimes i hear myself speaking and i have no idea what is going on…just the emotion vomiting out. What’s more, this is just the beginning…it will continue until 2014…woweee.
Thank you again.
Many blessings x

I came across your article while searching for more meaning of Transiting Pluto Conjunct natal Chiron at 6 degree of Capricorn for a friend who will be experiencing this conjunction. Although you speak of the square (conflict) v/s a conjunction (power) I was wondering how this aspect can help him get over the hurt he experienced in the past from his home life. Depression is a major factor. His Chiron is natally in the 12th right on the cusp. I thought this would be a great time for him to deal with his past, understand it, and move on to a new life.

This Pluto squaring my natal Chiron started for me at the end of January 2012 and will end December 2013. I was a little worried about the interpretations I’d read so far until I came across your piece (I already have just had Pluto with my natal Sun for 2 years. Ouch!) . I had Pluto (conj uranus) opposite chiron when I was around 11. I was beaten and treated like garbage by my stepfather and my mother did absolutely nothing. That lasted around 3 years, and then finally my mother got divorced and I never saw him again.
Now Pluto is trine Chiron. I suddenly remember those days every day, even though I did my share of therapy. I feel like I need to remember who I was before that time.
So your analogy seems correct, I had to go to the doctor, because the wound is still there, even when I though it was healed.
Cheers

Amazing! Great article! ! I was searching for info to sooth my pain when I came across your writings.
Just had the second hit of the exact square: tr Pluto from the 3rd house to Chiron on the cusp of my 7th house. Also natal Chiron Rx is conjunct Moon in the 6th. Just went thru the “surgery”, but the pain has not subsided. The first square happened a year and a half ago together with transiting North Node close to my natal Pluto in Libra in the 12 h, transiting South Node conjunct Moon, tr Uranus conjunct my DC and Neptune square Neptune. (Great combo for re-experiencing disillusionment in relationships or re-living old patterns…) At that time I couldn’t resist falling in love with someone very inappropriate … I remember the anxiety I was experiencing when finally I had to admit that “yes, I really am developing feelings for this guy”. The interactions with him have been steady, lots of advances, some great tenderness, comments, attention on his part, but also vagueness, lack of clear communication, lack of clarity as to the status of what is is this between us . And with me, not being able to ask questions, state my needs (Chiron Rx in Aries in 7th), maintain my identity and all that… I just hung in there, in that fog day dreaming of the future…Now, with the second hit of the square (my Chiron is in 17 degree Aries) I finally realized, saw! that there is absolutely no chance to be together and he has chosen s’o else. I have to say… the intensity of the pain is so big. I can only compare it to the experience I had when tr. Pluto squared Pluto and was conjunct my Venus too…
But in the midst of that pain, I am able to see clearly now (at least I think so) how I instigated this vagueness with my own complex. To deal with this, I literally isolated myself home and dug deep for two weeks, while writing, crying , reminiscing , comparing other relationship dynamics I’ve had in the past. My complex was exposed this time so clearly, (exactly the way you describe it in the article) I am stunned to see how many times I have kept that repetition-compulsion of the same issue going on. Cannot say that I feel liberation at this point, but definitely lightness and my smile has come back on my face. The experience was definitely re-scaring of the same wound. And I think for the first time I got the lesson at such level of consciousness. I am sure there’s more facets to it though…
Just not sure what to expect when the third hit comes around November 2017 after Pluto goes Rx again …

Am right in the middle of this right now and don’t know how to free myself. I have Saturn making his approach to my Venus, squaring my natal Pluto and opposing natal Saturn. My Uranus opposition is in the post and Neptune has been on my moon /Ceres/Jupiter conjunction for more time than I care to remember. Exhausted and about to break. Hi Louisa~ You have quite a lot happening right now to sort away! Maybe it’s not so much about breaking free, I think, as it is about endurance and economy of energy right now. Saturn Pluto square times are always heavy no matter which chart they show up in.

Fabulous. You hit the nail on the head. I found myself laughing out loud at the pure reflection of it all, especially the, “really are you serious?” part.
I can’t believe the drama and extra pain (although it was highly cathartic for other issues) I put around and on top of my hidden wound. When i finally and recently got access to it, it was not as bad as i must of thought it was. But, i can still understand why i tucked it away. It feels so good to have it out in the light.
