Developing a Healthy Root Chakra: a necessity for Soul Purpose Manifestation
An overlooked area for many is the necessity of bringing the chakra system into alignment and well-being to further their personal evolution and to prepare the physical body to be receiving of the highest energies required to maximize this current life potential.
Some on the path to wholeness, are quite comfortable and adept within the upper chakras, yet have a tendency to flee the lower chakras, for fear of becoming primal or losing ground in their growth.
Others seek to only develop the upper chakras, and neglect the lowers, out of a perspective that the physical is unimportant for soul growth.
My personal perspective is one of designating equal importance to the chakras and all bodies (physical, emotional, mental etc.).
I feel when we nurture all parts of ourselves, we are better able to achieve peace and wholeness, and fulfill our current life plan.
By developing a healthy root chakra we find existence within a material plane to be much more enjoyable, and also are better prepared to anchor higher energies assisting us in manifesting that which we need for living our Higher Purpose.
Shall we dive into the root and have a look?
Root Chakra Basics:
- The root/base chakra is typically seen as the color red, and is located in the area of the perineum.
- A strong, healthy root allows one to anchor and utilize energies received through the crown chakra, providing the tool to manifest in the material realm your creativity and Higher Self promptings and Purpose.
- When balanced and healthy, one feels safe and secure, centered/grounded, and is able to better identify external energies and process them accordingly.
- In simple terms, it is much easier for empaths, sensitives in general, and for those seeking to live a life in self-awareness, to identify what is, and what is not, their stuff.
Characteristics of the Root:
Governs in the physical body: Spine, kidneys, adrenal glands, immune system, skeletal system and genitals.
Maladies associated with: heightened stress/fear levels, cold hands and feet, frequent urination, high-blood pressure, low back pain, addictions, lower body difficulties (feet, legs, hip), low sexual drive/impotence, depression, obsessive disorders, an extreme need for control in one’s life. This is only a partial list covering the most often manifested issues.
Basic Right: The right to exist in the material. The right to Survive, the right to feel Safe.
How to have a look at your root chakra:
- One of the easiest ways to connect with the root chakra is by feeling it physically.Focus your attention on the perineum (the area between the anus and testicles/anus and vagina).
Take a breath in, as you do so, raise and squeeze the perineum. Hold for a few seconds, and focus your energy moving into this area. Release the contraction, as you exhale. - Repeat until you feel a fullness of energy and feel you are now ‘in’ the root.
When you have connected, begin a visual assessment:
- What color is the chakra?
- Which way is it spinning, and how would you describe the spin (ie. Fast, slow, uneven tempo)?
- Is it leaning in any direction or does it have an uneven shape?
- Do you see any images within the chakra? Faces, events, objects etc.?
NOTE: When viewing the root and working within it, it is quite common in the beginning to see images, often that we find unappealing. Do not let this frighten you. Remember you are just ‘viewing’ and are in control, and you may choose to stop the exercise at any time to work through what you have brought up for release. Everyone has their own pace, some work through the root chakra in a few days, others it can take substantially longer. There is no hurry. Be proud of yourself and confident that you have begun the process and there will be steady improvement.
How to have a talk with your root chakra:
Here are a series of questions that will assist in determining where to put your attention in healing and release work for the root. It is important to relax and let this chakra speak to you. Do not judge its revelations even if at the moment you cannot put it into context. The information will sort and define itself as you continue to work on this chakra. If at any time you feel you need to stop, do so. Give yourself time to assimilate and transmute that which has arisen for clearing.
- Did you feel safe growing up? Do you feel safe now?
- As a child, did you feel worthy/valued? Do you now, today?
- How does your physical body feel? List any discomforts that are relate to the root chakra.
- Do you like being in these human clothes? Yes or no, expand upon your reasons.
- What belief patterns have you inherited from family/others? Do these beliefs allow you to feel safe and secure? If so, or not, why?
- Do you need the approval of others?
- Are you manifesting your Soul desire on this plane? If so, how? If not, what is blocking you?
- Do you feel that God/Source cares about you? If not, why?
- Would you say your journey is an odyssey or a pilgrimage?
- Do you have unfinished healing to take place with another? What prevents the healing from occurring?
- List your thoughts/feelings about being on this planet. Be honest!
- Do you feel grounded in your body..are you really IN it? If not, if you feel out-of-touch (spaced out, anxiety, lightheaded etc), what are you fleeing from?
Choosing to take the path to self-healing is one that requires courage and perseverance. The rewards though, are undeniably far greater than words can express! Be gentle with yourself, be nurturing, and be proud that you are working each and every moment towards a better, healthy you, for YOU, and for humanity. With Blessings! Kachina

Exactly, it’s essential to be grounded, to get this overall feeling of feeling good and stable. I am working with this chakra aswell these days, neglected it for years.. well.. if you don’t know you don’t know ofcourse. The spiritual path which I walk on now has provided me with the insight that I am not entirely balanced. For example, more focus into third eye..
Thank you for the wonderful post, it’s appreciated!
Wish you good luck and love.

Hi geert~
“more focus into third eye”..aha! lol..so you are a top heavy..I used to walk around not completely in my body..others said I stopped at the knees and after I anchored in everything got way better…most notably I had far less bruises from walking into walls and tripping up steps.
Glad you found this useful!
Blessings! xo
